The present play had its premier performance at the Teatro dos Aloés, 28 November 2002, in the Recreios da Amadora. The author, actor, stage director, and teacher of theater and film, was the co-founder of the Teatro da Rainha. He was part of the management of the Teatro Malaposta, and worked in the Teatro Municipal de Almada and the Novo Grupo. At the time this book appeared he was working in the Teatro dos Aloés.

Awarded the Prémio Albufeira de Literatura, 2008. The present play deals with António José da Silva, the Jewish Luso-Brazilian dramatist burned at the stake in Lisbon, in view of the Tagus, on 19 October 1739. Shortly prior to his death, in the dungeons of the Inquisition, ironically situated at the site on the Rossio Square at which is presently located the Teatro D. Maria II, Silva is visited by the ghost of Father António Vieira. Born Évora, 1966, the playwright, essayist, songwriter Armando Nascimento Rosa has had at least nine books published, the majority of which were theatrical pieces. His Lianor no pais sem pilhas (2001) was awarded the Prémio Revelação Ribeiro da Fonte, 2000. Several of his plays have been translated and published in English and Spanish, and they have been performed in Madrid, London, New York and Zürich.
