teacher and journalist, was born in Lisbon in 1960. He has
written at least three novels for adults. One of
them, A montanha
russa de Deus (2001), is
about "sex, violence and money". He has also written
children's books, student manuals, song lyrics, plays,
fictional scripts for television, as well as biographies of
D. Carlota Joaquina and D. Maria I.

grande amor, is said to
have sold 55,000 copies.

His Já os galos
pretos cantam (2003), a volume
consisting of four stories set during the Spanish Civil
War, was awarded the Prémio Edmundo Bettencourt by the
Câmara Municipal do Funchal, 2003. His No pasarán:
cenas e cenários da guerra civil de Espanha
was
awarded the Prémio Norberto Lopes da Casa da Imprensa
(1998), and Apenas uma
estátua equestre na Praça da Liberdade
(2002) was
awarded the Grande Prémio do Conto, APE.
Cenas da vida de um minatauro was awarded
both the Prémio Orlando Gonçalves and the Grande Prémio do
Conto, APE.
