The interesting introduction occupies pp. 7-17. This novella, a parody of Eça de Queiroz's A cidade e as serras, was originally published in 1931; another edition appeared in the 1950s. On the lawyer, playwright and journalist Tomás Ribeiro Colaço, secretary of the Juventudes Monárquicas and defender of D.
