present volume has designated the volumes published
together by the Imprensa Nacional in 1998 as "Volume I".
In 2001, additional watercolors were discovered in the
archives of the Aquário Vasco da Gama. In 2003 the Marinha
Portuguesa, Aquario Vasco da Gama, and Lusitania, Companhia
de Seguros, published 110 full page color ornithological
illustrations in a similar format to the present work, with
scientific obserrvations and commentaries written by D.
Carlos to support the illustrations. That volume has been
designated by the present editior as "Volume II".
