The author of these poems, born in Águeda in 1936, in addition to his distinguished literary career, above all as a poet, has been for a number of years a Socialist deputy and later Vice–President of the Assembleia da República. He subsequently ran for President of Portugal in 2006, coming in second place to Aníbal Cavaco e Silva; Mário Soares ran a distant third. The author was born at Vila da Ribeira, Ilha de São Micolau, Cabo Verde, 1928. Poet, short story writer and essayist, much of his output has appeared in newspapers and reviews. He has published in book form at least two volumes of poetry, a short story, a novella, and has edited an anthology of poems by Jorge Barbosa.

The posfácio, titled "A poesia, retrato sem molduras", occupies pp. 73-83. The author, born in Luanda, 1955, has had published at least eight volumes of poetry, two volumes of short stories and one of essays. A journalist, his first book of fiction, Imitação de Sartre & Simone de Beauvoir, first published in Luanda, 1998, was awarded honorable mention for the Prémio Sonangol de Literatura, 1996. At the time this book appeared, he was a deputy to the Angolan National Assembly.

This prize–winning science fiction writer also has several previous volumes of poetry to her credit. Born in Pampilhosa, 1953, she was chief of psyciatric services and clinical director at the Hospital Psiquiátrico do Lorvão; at the time this volume appeared she was living in Coimbra. She paints, and has written medical articles for the review Viver com saúde. Her poetry and fiction are represented in anthologies in Portugal and abroad (in French, English and German); her volume of short stories, Universal, limitada, (1987) was translated into Catalan. It was awarded the Prémio Caminho Ficção Científica, 1987.
