Born Cabezón de la Sal, Santander, Spain in 1929, his father Portuguese, mother Spanish, the author has lived in Spain, Portugal, France and Algeria (arriving in Portugal from Spain at age two; returning to Spain to study, returning to Portugal in 1953, then going into exile in 1961). He has produced several prize-winning poetical works: Figuras (1987), was awarded the Prémio Inasset/Poesia; Sobre os mortos (1991), won the Grande Prémio de Poesia, APE. He has published at least 18 previous volumes of poetry, beginning in 1956, and also received the Prémio de Poesia do Pen Club for Introdução à filosofia (1981). Born in Porto, 1944, Rui Aguir has exhibited has paintings regularly since 1972, both collectively and individually, and has been awarded several prizes. His work is represented in diverse private collections and museums, such as the Wassenhoven Collection, Burges, the lalit Kala Academy, New Deli, the Museu do Desenho, Estremoz, the Secretaria de Estado da Cultura, Porto, the Câmara Municipal de Matosinhos, the Museu de Arte Contemporânea, Fundação Serralves, the collection of the Caixa Geral de Depositos, the Centro de Arte Moderna of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, and the Museu Amadeu Souza Cardoso, Amarante.

António Ferra was born in Porto, 1947. At the time this volume of verse appeared, he was living in Lisbon. He has published pedagogical works, and literature for children; perhaps the most noteworthy of these are Pedagogia centrada na pessoa, and Caleidoscópio, which was awarded a prize by SEC in 1980. He has published one previous volume of poetry, Com a cidade no corpo (2002), and his poems are represented in several anthologies. He has also written three volumes of fiction, and has had a number of theatrical pieces performed for children.

Daniel Jonas was born in Porto, 1973, where he was residing at the time this volume appeared. This is his fourth volume of poetry. His translation of Paradise Lost was published in 2006, and he is said to be working on the translation of poems by William Wordsworth.

The author, who has published more than 30 volumes of poetry, won the Prémio José Régio de Poesia in 1975 for Alguns círculos and the Prémio Nicola de Poesia in 1985 for Tronos e dominações. He has also published at least 7 volumes of essays on art and at least 8 volumes of fiction. On the CD, the poems are read by José Manuel Mendes. The author was born in Évora, 1925. During the 1950s he frequented various “tertúlias”, such as the surrealist group of the Café Gelo, the Café Chiado, and the Brasileira. He has published six previous volumes of poetry. The title of the present volume refers to the fact that its author has lived in seven places: Évora, Lisbon, Almada, Queluz, Faro, Barreiro, and Sintra, where he was residing at the time of publication.

Born in Porto in 1937, the poet, essayist, performer, and university professor Alberto Pimenta has collaborated in various German, Italian, and Portuguese literary reviews. He has been an important vanguard figure in Portuguese literature. Duelo (2004) received the Prémio Pen Club de Poesia, and the Prémio de Poesia Luís Miguel Nava. Born in Angola, 1968, he has written several other books of poetry, as well as a historical volume about the Portuguese colonial wars, and Franz Piechowski, ou a analítica do arquivo (2006), an essay on the visible and invisible in forensic psychiatry.

The author was born in Penafiel, 1933. He has pursued both a medical and artistic career, having published poems in O Comércio do Porto and O Primeiro de Janeiro, as well as in an anthology; in 2002 his Poemas, 1976-1996 appeared in book form.
