Forty
recipes for venison, wild rabbit, hare, quail, partridge,
pheasant, turtledove, golden plover, thrush, woodcock,
snipe, wild pigeon, wild boar and wild duck. Each of the
recipes was supplied by a friend or relative of the author
(and one by the author himself). The author introduces each
recipe provider, and each is photographed in color. They
are mostly, if not all, members of the Portuguese
aristocracy and / or high society. All appear to be
hunters. At the end is a brief section pointing out the
dietary and health merits of various types of game in
comparison to farm-raised animals, demonstrating the
significantly lower cholesterol in dishes comprised of wild
animals.
