Interesting and thematically diverse review by the municipal library system of Lisbon. Includes the text of a speech of Diogo Pires Aurélio, "Os direitos humanos e as suas declarações" (pp. 10 - 14), preceded by the text of the 1948 United Nations General Assembly Universal Declaration of Human Rights, three "depoimentos" on the subject, and a list of websites, and followed by a bibliography on the Rights of Man. There are sections on documentation, children's and juvenile literature, and comic books. The section on literature contains a brief essay by Maria Teresa Arsénio Nunes on Gomes Leal, as well contributions by three young writers, Jacinto Lucas Pires, Pedro Cordeiro and Sofia Ester. In the section on "Bibliotecas" is a most interesting bibliographical article by the historian and bibliographer João José Alves Dias, "Um tesouro escondido" (pp. 81 - 7). Alvaro Costa de Matos writes on the "Hemeroteca Municipal de Lisboa, a biblioteca dos 'sete ofícios'" (pp. 88 - 90), Luís Aguiar Santos on "Conferéncia e esposição iconobibliográfica sobre o regicído" (p. 91), and Luís Alberto Marques Alves on "Temas e espaços da cultura oitocentista: o papel das bibliotecas públicas" (pp. 92 - 6). Also included are review articles by Paulo Drumond Braga, Isabel M.R. Mendes Drumond Braga, and Manuela Rego.
