The author has published at least eight volumes of poetry and two books for children. Her poetry has been translated into Spanish, English, French, German, Dutch, Russian, Bulgarian, and Serbo-Croatian. She was born in Lisbon in 1956, and holds a Ph.D. in North American literature, having written her thesis on Emily Dickinson.

The author's illustrated volume of poems, O som do vermelho: tríptico poético sobre pintura de Rogério Ribeiro (2003) was awarded the Grande Prémio APE 2004. Born in Porto in 1953, Baptista has published at least 15 volumes of poetry; he has also contributed to and co-edited Poesia digital: 7 poetas dos anos 80 (2002), in addition to having edited two other anthologies of poems. His unpublished "O claro interior" received the Prémio de Poesia e Ficção de Almada, 2000 (Poesia). Poems by Amadeu Baptista have been translated into Spanish, Catalan, French, Italian, English, Romanian, Dutch, and Hebrew.

The author, poet, and literary critic, was born in Porto in 1965. He has published at least six volumes of poetry, a novella, and edited two anthologies. A regular contributor to the newspaper Público, he has written for a number of Portuguese and foreign literary reviews as well.

João Marcos [Gonçalves Ribeiro] was born in Rebordões Santa Maria, Ponte de Lima. He opposed the Salazar regime as a teenager, having to interrupt his high school studies and emigrate to Brazil. There he published his first book. Marcos has published 11 volumes of poetry, 5 of fiction (4 novels and a volume of short stories), and two historical works.

The "Equipa Pessoa," created by the Secretaria de Estado da Cultura in 1988 and installed in the Biblioteca Nacional, Lisbon, is more formally known as the "Grupo de Trabalho para o Estudo do Espólio e Edição da Obra Completa de Fernando Pessoa." Its publications are divided into two collections: Estudos, dedicated to problems of editions and of the Espólio, and Edição Crítica. The Edição Crítica is sub-divided into Série Maior: "Textos . . . sob a forma de edições crítico-genéticas," under the general direction of Ivo Castro, and the Série Menor, which reproduces the same texts, in slightly smaller format, with transcription updated, and without critical apparatus.

He has published at least 8 volumes of poetry and 12 volumes of children's literature (one of which, O inventão, received the Prémio Gulbenkian de Literatura Para Crianças in 1987). His poetry is available in anthologies published in France, Belgium, Spain, and the United States. He was editor of the Jornal de Notícias, Porto.

The psychiatrist Lobo Antunes, born Lisbon, 1942, is considered by some to be Portugal's greatest living writer of fiction.
