This
was one of three books which Sampaio Bruno intended to
leave as his major body of work. The project was
interrupted by his death in 1915. This, the second of these
works, originally appeared as a series of articles in
periodicals. The first edition in book form was published
by Editorial Minerva, Lisbon, in 1975. The present edition
is more complete and better organized.
